Trying to buy a new domain

Nikhil Dev | June 15, 2008 | 12:39 am

Just discovered that my next perfect domain name is available. Just wondering if I should use it with GoDaddy or not. As of now I haven’t had many issues with godaddy. Just that I want to keep my present hosting the same and see if it supports multiple domain hosting. Its 12:35 AM and the more research I do, the more I get confused. But the weather is awesome outside. Nice and windy. Its not raining luckily. It was a terrific at the resort yesterday but the resort as such(Placida resorts) was pathetic.

Its been quite a good Saturday. Just realised that the cabinet I got made for my desktop is 1cm shorter to how big my desktop box is. But managed to arrange the rest of the stuff snugly into the new computer table. Looks just perfect with space enough for my laptop and my midi controller and some more stuff.

Its a really busy morning coming up.

Hi, I just read your blog about you wanting to

Hi, I just read your blog about you wanting to register a domain and was unsure if you should use Godaddy.

I just want to warn you and tell you to be careful about where you do your search to see if a domain is avaliable.

Because there are companies who “steal” the domainname right after you have search for it, and then demands a much higher fee for them.

I have experienced this myself.

Try to read these sites about the issue::

http://kevinboss.net/website-design/be-careful-when-checking-if-a-domain-is-available

http://blog.domaintools.com/2008/01/network-solutions-steals-domain-ideas-confirmed/

Because of that, I have now stopped using Network Solutions and GoDaddy as the sites where I search for avaliable domains, but also as the companies where I buy my domains. I dont want to support companies that does such amoral things.

Those two companies is on my blacklist now. :)

I have been recommended by a friend, these following sites as a reliable and secure:
1. 77gb.net
2. moniker.com

This is just for your information. You should tell your friends, so they dont experience what I have experienced.

Good luck and best regards,
