The microsoft genuine Disadvantage

Nikhil Dev | July 4, 2006 | 5:10 pm

There has been a lot talking about what Microsoft has been working on to keep all the copies of its software legal. I found this content on one of the websites which explains the concept pretty clearly.

The tool, called Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA), is aimed at cracking down on millions of illegal copies of Windows XP in circulation.

The tool is downloaded and installed voluntarily but Microsoft has said it could become mandatory in the future.

Users with a counterfeit copy of Windows XP can continue to use their computer and will receive periodic notices that the operating system is unlicensed.

So the final conclusion is that Microsoft is leaving more reasons for people to switch over to Linux which is obviously more stable, comes for free, more secure and above all goes really easy on the hardware.
