Happy Birthday ME

Nikhil Dev | October 10, 2008 | 12:53 am

I am 26 today. This is the time when my mom would start bothering me on getting married. PAIN.

But, all these years, have gone so fast. I just didnt realize. But yeah, I think I am kinda getting old now. Need to start worrying about ma future. Had a party a while ago. Got ma ass kikd. I am seriously thankful to god for my friends that I have today. Shoheb, Sujith, Sam, Tillu and Ajit.

God bless me. People think I dont believe in God but its just Religion that I dont believe in. I mean it doesnt make sense to me in believing in something that has no reason. Its a long Debate,

But, I wish myself a HAPPY 26th  BIRTHDAY.

Great initiative by Tata for encouraging voting - JaagoRe.com

Nikhil Dev | September 24, 2008 | 1:21 pm

I think a lot of people have notice the advertising of JaagoRe.com. I just wanted to see how good it served the purpose. I should say that all the IT professional who think they dont have time to vote or do not have Voter Cards cos they were not at home when the electoral survey was made, should stop making excuses. I registered on the domain and it was one of the simplest registration I have done.

For people who have not done this, this is all that you need to do.

1. Visit JaagoRe.com

2. Click on Register or Sign up

3. Fill in all the details(If you dont know what constituency you come under, there is a map link to help you)

4. Once the registration is complete, you will be given a form and you need to printout and and submit to the address give there for your constituency.

It wouldnt get simpler than this. I think people should stop being lazy and stop complaining about the Govt not doing anything. Its all in your control now.

Several attempts, but did not hit the Publish button

Nikhil Dev | September 13, 2008 | 1:49 pm

I think this post should be coming after more than a month. Just that too a break off blogging. There were too many thngs to write about that I just went lazy and dint want to write about all of them.

Just today morning I realized that I had some time to spend for myself.

Right now I am listening to this song Tum Ho To from the movie Rock On. Really touched. I think I am gonna do it. After all my voice is not that bad. The movie was pretty good and quite inspiring, In fact it reminds me of times when I used to jam with Sujith and Shoheb. It was a part of the weekend and that I all we had to do. Play the whole of the morning and afternoon, get Biryani for lunch, and beer for the evening. Those were really wonderful days. Now Sujith is married and Shoheb hardly has time for any music except for the times when we sit drinking.

I think I have to take it all by myself. I gotta talk to Udgata and learn how to use Ableton Live. I am sure it will help me quite a lot with my music and the recoring session. Now I am sure that the Creative EMU 0404 USB that I have bought is definitely worth the money. I used to use it mainly to playing using Guitar Rig, but it does a lot more than that.

At last had to buy an adapter for my laptop and the damn thing is up and working now. I was really shocked when the adapter costed me 2 grand. I was expecting it to be just about 1 or 1.5. But anyway, gotta be more careful with it now. Once I get my macbook and mini, Windows will be just for playing music and nothing else. Actually and good thing to do is, when my laptop gets old, am gonna break the lcd off and stick the console at the back of my Desktop LCD. That way I will just 2 cords. One for the LCD power and the other for the laptop console. That should take care of quite a lot my desktop clutter. I wish there was someway we can transmit video over wireless so that I dont have to connect my LCD to any other interface. Thats called thinking futuristic.

My Winamp has just gone to the next song. These are really old songs that I havent heard to from a long time.

Now the bad thing about my weekends are that I have to write all my new music to CDs. Thats ok, but whats more frustrating is that I have to write the inlays for that as well. I still have about 5 cds left for that. And I might be burning another 5 today. So that brings the count to 10. That should take up about 3 to 4 hours of my day.

I am really happy with the way things are going at work. I should say that I have never done so much time management  in my life. Its working just fine. I mean I am doing three different things in a day, Regular office work, collection music as well as going to the school in the evening. Apart from that, I am also involved in projects at work. I should say that I am proud of myself for that.

I hope this weekend turns out to be refreshing. Sujith might be coming home in the evening and we might jam for sometime. We tried doin something last weekend and we werent that bad at it. Lets see how it works out today.

Right now I am terribly hungry and I need to feed myself.

32 killed in Goutami Express mishap, sify news plays bullshit, big time goof up in news, it sucks

Nikhil Dev | August 2, 2008 | 2:42 am

32 killed in Goutami Express mishap .

The above link is something I found when looking for information of a friend of mine travelling in the same boogie which caught fire, S10. How can Sify make such a blunder. This is what is written on the sify site

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy visited the accident site and expressed shock over the tragedy. He said it was not caused by terrorists. “It was an accident,” Reddy said, adding that compensation of Rs100,000 each would be given to the families of those killed. This is in addition to the compensation announced by the railways.

The Railways Minister has announced compensation of Rs 500,000 for the families of each of those killed and Rs 00,000 for each injured. He said one member of each family that has lost someone in the fire would be given a job with the railways.

The only way I could prove this is by taking a screenshot and with the help of search engines who have cached copies of this news already. How could the state government think of a compensation of “Rs 00,000 for each injured” as the news states.

In such crucial states, people rely on news. How can sify make this mistake. This absolute bullshit. A disgrace to the power of the internet.

The agony of a really busy schedule continues

Nikhil Dev | July 27, 2008 | 11:11 pm

Things are really so busy these days. I dont want to compromise on anything. Cant quite working out at the gym, cant miss the classes neither can i take work easily. Finding it really tough to strike a balance. I think its just the matter of another 2 months till the course is over. But I doubt if things are gonna be easy or will they get tougher after that. I surely would want to make money out of the time and money that I have spent. The best thing to do right now is to let things happen and try for the best.

Meanwhile, I so troubled by these windows machine. Had a trojan problem at the work computer as well as on my personal laptop. Its just that I cant afford a mac right now. Thinking of switching to linux at home. Anyway I dont have much to do. Just that my casing doesnt fit into the cabinet I got designed in my table. I thought a mac mini would fix the problem and it indeed would but no one is that ready to buy my old computer. I think its time i give it away for cheap. atleast it would add up to one third the cost of a mini. I can then donate my laptop to my mom and get myseld a brand new macbook. Just that I dont hae enough money now.
