How some people become important to you in a really short time

Nikhil Dev | December 29, 2006 | 1:45 pm

I am not writing this post just because I have to write something, but cos I want to write about this. All throughout my life, Ive met people of all kinds. Bad people, Good people, Mad People, Sad people. they tend to influence in several ways. The past few weeks ive been influenced by new kinda person. A person I never new before but a person who made me feel that I was important. A person who made me believe in myself. A person who then became important to me.

It feels so good that I get to spend some time with her in Mountain View.

Artist of the day - Rascal Flatts

Nikhil Dev | | 1:41 pm

Rascal Flatts in August 2005

Rascal Flatts is an American Country band comprised of lead vocalist Gary LeVox (real name: Gary Wayne Vernon, Jr.) (born July 10, 1970, in Columbus, Ohio), bassist Jay DeMarcus(real name: Stanley Wayne DeMarcus) (born April 27, 1971, in Columbus, Ohio) and electric guitarist Joe Don Rooney (born September 13, 1975, in Baxter Springs, Kansas). Gary LeVox and Jay (Stanley) DeMarcus are second cousins.

Rascal Flatts achieved notoriety in 2003 with their music video, “I Melt”. Some fans objected to the video—which starred band member Rooney and model Christina Auria—because it contained brief nudity, and wanted the video banned from CMT and Great American Country. (Ironically, Jay DeMarcus was a member of the Christian pop group East to West in the mid 1990s). Eventually, Rascal Flatts released an edited version of the video, which aired during daytime hours on CMT. [6]

The song “I Melt” came from Rascal Flatts’ second album, Melt, which contained the band’s first number one country single, “These Days” (which reached the top spot of Billboard magazine’s Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart in December 2002).

The group released a music video for the song “Skin.” The video of the song—a hidden track from the album Feels Like Today—featured Cirque du Soleil performers.

The Google Reader Notifier

Nikhil Dev | | 4:31 pm

The free, open source Google Reader Notifier keeps an eye on your Google Reader feeds and notifies you of new items (who’d've thunk). While Google has been dragging their feed on an official notifier for their Reader, it’s always great to see the open source/freeware community take the reigns to fill those holes. If you’re on a Mac, there’s the Google Reader Notifier for Macs; or, if you’ve always got a browser open, you might want to grab the Google Reader Notifier for Firefox.

  • 1981 and still counting
  • How to use Firefox as your file explorer
  • Opera is anytime the best in all the performance aspects
  • Firefox 3 Beta 4 proven to be the best of the lot browser
  • The OGG Vorbis effect

Amazing podcasts on pluggd.com

Nikhil Dev | | 4:25 pm

I was wondering so much about  how podcasts work and wanted to search for a perfect place to find all podcasts at one location. That is when I came across this amazing website that organizes all the podcasts at one place and works with the concept of tagging thus categorizing them. The streaming is amazingly smooth and fast and the player is standalone. Check it out at Pluggd.com
