An amazing brithday gift - Stuff not to invest on

Nikhil Dev | October 11, 2006 | 10:04 am

People were surprised that I was going to the office on my Bday. But there was a great surprise for me at office, Had a VC in the morning and after completing that came to my desk and put my fone on my bag. Came back to after grabbing a bite and found that the fone was gone. At first thought that it was a prank but things got more serious and then I realized that it was stolen. A really bad way to start the day, cos the management is still investigating into this and that is what they will do till I buy another one.

The Dapper Drake Syndrome

Nikhil Dev | October 5, 2006 | 10:52 am

It surely is a syndrome, more of a drug that is very very addictive. Installing Ubuntu 6.06 is much much simpler than what people think it is. I never thought it would be this simple, fast and hassle free. The best part of this is that you get most of the applications preinstalled and there is nothing else that you will have to install.

The installation starts with the boot cd that first runs as a Live CD and allows you to do everything that Ubuntu has to. Once booted you will have an icon on your desktop called Install. Just double click that, specify a few parameters and everything else is taked care by Ubuntu.

Once install I wanted to have the KDE environement, so using the terminal you can do that as well in a jiffy. Believe it or not, you will simply fall in love with this. I installed it on my system as a dual boot. But now I removed my other windows partition and using only Ubuntu.

Give it a try, after all it is for free!!!!!!!!!!!
