Make windows faster by a large factor

Nikhil Dev | September 29, 2006 | 4:05 pm

I have experimented with Windows for so many years that I am now in a position to advice people on ways to make windows more effecient. I would like to start with addressing a very common concern that people have and that is the speed. I am not sure how many have tried to disable the windows fancy graphics but I swear it makes a really big difference at the cost of a normal look. All you need to is follow these few simple steps.

Right click on the My Computer icon and click Properties.
Click on the Advanced tab and click on the Settings button.
Select the option Adjust for best performance and Ok.

This will get the display to a very Windows 2000 like looking interface but try working on menu navigation and opening a few applications. You will find an immediate difference in ther performance. This is because Windows does not have to draw all those fancy graphics that eat your processor time and memory usage. It is that simple.

For people who are a lil more geeky, my best advice would be “Switch to Linux”.

A new starting but a better space

Nikhil Dev | September 26, 2006 | 6:49 pm

This time, I am tired of running around hiding scripts, not being able to used packages without showing ads on the site. So I talked to Abbas and transfered my domain to him to host on his space. This way I get to avoid ads, have better traffic and in short no limits at all. The only problem is that I lost all my previous blog entries. The plus point is that I got to take a backup of all my posts before I screwed up. It might take me some time to upload all the posts manually but surely would be just a one time issue. I am also installing the ‘Gallery 2′ package so I can play around with images better. Also have a work deadline on hand. So definitely would be more busy for another week.
